Once you’ve completed the Ryvita Party Fit Challenge, choosing the most flattering LBD to show off your fabulous figure can still be a real minefield! With this in mind, Ryvita has enlisted the help of stylist to the stars, Mark Heyes, to help you find the perfect dress to match that newfound confidence.
Mark Heyes says,
“No matter the season, no matter the trend, the LBD is a staple. You can dress it up or down but you can’t beat a LBD and it’s always the right choice for festive celebrations; get the right shape and it can accentuate all your good bits and hide the not-so good! Take your time to consider your best assets, invest in a good quality fabric and your LBD will be wearable season after season.”
Mark’s Top Five Fashion Tips to find your perfect LBD!
- Flatter – your curves! Choose a dress that highlights your best assets and always try it on before you buy. Different cuts flatter different shapes;
- A-line – dresses with the bottom of the dress flaring out in an A shape – these designs disguise large hips and bums making your waistline look tiny.
- Empire Line – dresses that gathers underneath the bust - these dresses perfectly skim the stomach making it look nice and flat.
- Bias cut dresses - where the fabric is cut on the bias/diagonally and will drop down the body and hug all curves along the way – this shape will make you appear curvy so are great for boyish, straight up and down figures.
- Fit – try on your dress before you buy and look at yourself from every angle to be sure it fits properly. Don’t be tempted by the label, buy the size that fits, not the size you want to fit you and it’ll flatter more.
- Flesh – make a choice between cleavage and legs - think sophistication, having both on show at once is a big no-no! If you’re conscious of your arms, invest in a lightweight shrug in a complementary colour – a quick fix for night- long confidence.
- Fabric & Frills – thicker satins look great on everyone (as long as it’s not too tight!), they give the dress a bit of structure and will show off your silhouette. Accessories are also essential – they can accentuate your figure, with a long necklace working to elongate your figure, while dainty chains make your neckline look elegant.
- Foundations – it’s all about the underwear ladies. Make sure that what you are wearing underneath supports you in the right places, doesn’t cut in and most importantly doesn’t show through your dress! Make time for to a proper fitting, you will be amazed at the difference it can make to your figure!
